Simply Grand Kitchen and Creamery is a family-run farm-to-table restaurant and ice cream shop at 504 Main St in downtown Grandview, MO — opened fall 2022 by mother-son duo Laurie and Zach Taylor, with Laurie’s sister Chef Mary Kay Bader creating the seasonal savory menu. Bader is originally from the Grandview area and returned home from an 11-year stint as executive chef at Maya Beach Hotel in Belize to open the kitchen. About 90% of ingredients are locally sourced.
Description
Simply Grand Kitchen and Creamery is the family project of Laurie Taylor, her son Zach, and Laurie’s sister Chef Mary Kay Bader, who came home to Grandview in fall 2022 after eleven years as executive chef and award-winner at Maya Beach Hotel and Bistro in Belize. The family opened the ice cream side of the business first, then brought Bader in from Belize to develop the savory menu in early October of the same year. Bader trained at culinary school in Denver, studied cooking in France and Italy, and spent thirteen years as sous chef at Potager (a pioneering farm-to-table restaurant in Denver) before moving to Belize — a career that returned to its roots when she “came home around family.” About 90% of the kitchen’s ingredients are locally sourced; the menu rotates seasonally and carries the philosophy of “simple dishes that are done elegantly.” The small restaurant occupies a brick building in downtown Grandview.
