The Mercury Room is a reservation-only, 14th-floor cocktail bar with panoramic Kansas City skyline views, operated by the Exit Strategy group (owners of the-monarch-cocktail-bar-lounge and verdigris) inside the Reverb apartment tower at 1800 Walnut St in the Crossroads.

Description

The Mercury Room occupies the 14th floor of the Reverb apartment tower at 1800 Walnut Street in Kansas City’s Crossroads Arts District. The 850-square-foot cocktail bar is reservation-only and designed to offer an intimate, high-concept drinking experience with panoramic views of the downtown Kansas City skyline. The bar’s interior features a ceiling installation of 9,000 LED lights. Cocktails are priced at approximately $30 and the service format is deliberately exclusive — the space seats a limited number of guests per reservation window.123

The Mercury Room is operated by the same Exit Strategy partnership that owns the-monarch-cocktail-bar-lounge on the West Plaza and verdigris in Leawood, Kansas — a group known for crafting destination-level drinking environments in Kansas City.124 The bar was described upon opening as the city’s “swankiest new bar” and as offering an “unparalleled drinking experience.”23

Ownership and history

The Mercury Room was opened in late 2020 by the Exit Strategy group: David Manica, Christian Moscoso, Dominic Petrucci, and Brock Schulte.1 The same group had previously opened The Monarch cocktail bar on the West Plaza, at 4808 Roanoke Pkwy.4 The Mercury Room pushed the concept further: Reverb is an apartment tower, and The Mercury Room occupies exclusive event-floor space leased within the building, positioning the bar as a destination hidden inside a residential high-rise.12

The bar received early coverage in both Feast Magazine and KC Magazine, which emphasized the reservation model and the cocktail price point — rare for Kansas City in 2020.123
