Description

Verdigris is a design-forward cocktail bar in Leawood’s Park Place development. It was previewed in early 2020 as an upscale lounge from bar manager Brock Schulte and partners associated with The Monarch and later The Mercury Room under the Exit Strategy hospitality umbrella.¹²³ The name references the blue-green patina copper takes as it oxidizes — a materials metaphor that matches the group’s design-driven bar identity.

The bar markets itself as Johnson County’s premiere cocktail bar and lounge, with table reservations via Tock and private-event bookings.⁴ Local coverage has treated the food program as a serious secondary draw alongside cocktails.⁵

Ownership and history

Verdigris is part of the same KC-metro independent cocktail family as The Monarch (West Plaza, 2017) and The Mercury Room (Crossroads). Exit Strategy LLC was named in Kansas City Star Cityscape coverage as the vehicle opening the Leawood lounge.² Feast Magazine attributed the concept to Schulte and other Monarch-affiliated operators.¹
