Description

Third Street Social is an American restaurant and bar in historic downtown Lee’s Summit, at 123 SE 3rd Street.12 It opened June 29, 2016 as a chef-driven, all-scratch kitchen — the third concept from the team that built Summit Grill and Bar.34 The menu centers on scratch-prepared comfort cuisine: hand-cut steaks, burgers, fried chicken, soups, salads, and sandwiches, with brunch on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and a daily happy hour.14

The owners conceived the concept after time spent in Chicago, aiming to bring a “big city” social-gathering-hall feel to a restored historic building in downtown Lee’s Summit.45 The restaurant has been positively received in Kansas City food media as a standout in the Lee’s Summit dining scene.5

Beyond Lee’s Summit, the Third Street Social brand has expanded to South Plaza (5031 Main St, KCMO) and the Northland (410 NW Legacy Dr, KCMO), with an Olathe, Kansas location (206 W. Loula St.) marking the brand’s first Johnson County and Kansas-side establishment.26

Ownership and history

Third Street Social is a concept of Summit Hospitality Group (also referred to in some materials as Summit Restaurant Group / Summit Group LLC), a Kansas City restaurant group founded in 2012 by Andy Lock and chef Domhnall Molloy, who previously gained experience at McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants.27 Third Street Social opened in 2016 as the duo’s third chef-driven concept, after Summit Grill and Bar.34

The group’s broader portfolio has included Summit Grill (multiple locations), Bōru Asian Eatery (reimagined from Bōru Ramen Bar in 2020), Pearl Tavern (a seafood concept), the acquired Neighborhood Café (2024), and Vertice (Italian, announced September 2025).28 In 2017, Lock and Molloy were named the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association’s Restaurateurs of the Year.7

The Olathe expansion of Third Street Social — at 206 W. Loula St., in a former city technology office — was reported in October 2025 as “well underway,” positioned as the brand’s Johnson County debut.6
