Cargo Cantina is the Mexican street-food counter at the Iron District container park, 1599 Iron St, North Kansas City — tacos, burritos and quesadillas, with labelled vegan items including mushroom “no carne asada” tacos. It was a returning vendor for the Iron District’s spring 2026 season. Operator identity is unresolved: Cargo Cantina has no standalone website, and the only ordering link it publishes — on its own Instagram bio and on the Iron District vendor page — points to the ChowNow storefront registered to Iron District LLC, the park’s owner-operator, which currently serves the iron-grill menu. Whether Cargo Cantina is an independent tenant or a second house brand is.

Description

Cargo Cantina is the Mexican street-food container at the Iron District, the repurposed-shipping-container food and retail park that opened at 1599 Iron St in North Kansas City in 2019.¹ The Iron District’s own vendor page describes it in three words — “Tacos, Burritos, Quesadillas!”² — and Cargo Cantina’s Instagram bio is barely longer: “Tacos, burritos & quesadillas inside @irondistrict.”³ Startland News and KCUR both list it among the park’s food operations, Startland naming it as one of two “popular container vendors” (with iron-grill) returning for the spring 2026 season.¹⁴ The vegetarian directory HappyCow records labelled vegan items on the counter, including mushroom-based “no carne asada” tacos, chips and salsa, and black beans.⁵

The business is thinly documented for a vendor that has been operating long enough to be called “returning.” There is no standalone website, no press profile naming a founder, and no phone number published on any first-party surface located. It does not appear in The Pitch’s September 2023 tour of the park, which profiled the tenants individually and named a different Mexican vendor — Roman Raya’s Taco Tank — in the container-park lineup at that time.⁶ Whether Cargo Cantina succeeded Taco Tank in the same niche, and under whose ownership, is not established by any source found.

The strongest available signal on operator identity is an ordering link. Both the Iron District’s vendor page and Cargo Cantina’s own Instagram bio send customers to direct.chownow.com/order/38477/locations/58575.²³ That ChowNow account is registered to Iron District LLC at 1599 Iron Street, Units H, I & E, and its only location record is “Iron Grill - 1599 Iron Street,” Unit H.⁷ The park’s food operations are overseen by food service director Phillip Jones,¹ and the park has already established a precedent for running its own counters: The Pitch reported iron-grill as “the Iron District’s first in-house project.”⁶ Cargo Cantina sharing that account is consistent with — but does not by itself prove — a second house-operated concept. It is equally consistent with an independent tenant piggybacking on the landlord’s ordering platform. This page does not resolve it.

This was searched exhaustively on 2026-08-13 and re-tested on 2026-08-14. Every avenue returned the same result both times. Do not re-run this search without a new signal (e.g. Cargo Cantina launching its own domain or ChowNow location). The only remaining path is physical: a photograph of the container menu board, or a direct request to the vendor.

What was checked (2026-08-13, all re-confirmed unchanged 2026-08-14):

• Own domain — none exists. No cargocantinakc.com; a cargocantina.com appears in the Internet Archive as a single ~291-byte page (2025-07-10 capture), unrelated on its face to this business and carrying no menu.⁸
• Own Instagram (@cargocantinakc) — bio names the categories (tacos, burritos, quesadillas) and hours, and links only to the ChowNow storefront below. No price list.³
• The published ordering link (direct.chownow.com/order/38477/locations/58575) — resolves to the iron-grill storefront: burgers only, no Cargo Cantina items. The underlying ChowNow account (Iron District LLC) has exactly one location record, Iron Grill.⁷ So Cargo Cantina has no ordering-platform menu of its own, even on a first-party platform. Re-queried 2026-08-14: account 38477 still returns "name": "Iron District LLC" with a single location, "Iron Grill - 1599 Iron Street"; /api/restaurant/58575/menu returns an empty object {}. No Cargo Cantina location has been added.⁷
