Two Sugars Coffee — Beacon Hill is the second location of the Westport coffee shop, opened October 1, 2025 in the glass-fronted ground floor at 25th and Troost where the baristas work out of a restored vintage Airstream camper parked inside the room. The camper, and the space, came from Vested Coffee, which ran a Beacon Hill café here until 2025; Two Sugars’ new owners took it over within months of buying the original shop, kept the setup, and brought their pastry case, flavored lattes and 7-to-3 daily hours to a stretch of Troost that has become a small coffee cluster. Description

The shop occupies a corner of a newer glass-faced building on the east side of Troost at 25th Street, at the northern edge of the Beacon Hill redevelopment and a few blocks from Hospital Hill; there is street parking on Troost and small lots nearby.1 Inside, “you will find a beautiful, clean airstream that the baristas operate out of,” which gives them “a bird’s eye view of the open space, warmly lit and decorated simply”; the room has window stools, sturdy tables and generous overhead space but few outlets, because the available power keeps the generator and the camper running.1 The Pitch’s Tiffany Watts, on opening day, described “a retro camper trailer with classic metal exterior and rounded edges — all renovated and reimagined into a cozy café … a mashup of vintage charm and modern design.”2

The menu is the Two Sugars menu. Everyday and seasonal boards are pinned to the camper: an Oatmeal Cream Pie latte, Coconut Mocha, Lavender Haze, Brown Sugar Bliss and a Werther’s Original latte; strawberry-vanilla and white-hibiscus-peach green teas, chai, matcha and Italian cream soda on the “not coffee” side; breakfast sandwiches and burritos; scones, tarts, cinnamon rolls and a lemon-poppyseed muffin.1 Watts’s daughter pronounced the cinnamon roll with cream-cheese icing “the best cinnamon roll she’s ever had,” and the everything-bagel bacon-egg-and-cheese drew the same praise.2 A small vendor corner sells goods from local makers (Live Forever Fashion among them) by QR code.1 Google reviewers surfaced by joe.coffee mention the breakfast burrito and a manager-made cappuccino.3

Ownership and history

The space: Vested Coffee

The camper predates Two Sugars. Vested Coffee opened its Beacon Hill café at 2501 Troost around a 1950 Airstream trailer, pouring Onyx Coffee Lab beans; Flatland profiled “Vested Coffee Brews Onyx and Hospitality in City Core,” and KC Parent’s venue listing described it as “modern and spacious … known for the 1950 Airstream camper … located right by Hospital Hill.”45 Vested announced its closing “suddenly” on Instagram in 2025; Kansas City Magazine reported at the time that there was “hope to keep their Beacon Hill location open,” and the Beacon Hill shop is now marked closed on Yelp.67 The Startland News piece on Troost’s “coffee cluster” (February 2025) described six coffee spaces on a single stretch of the avenue, of which this was one.8

Two Sugars’ expansion

Two Sugars’ founder Victoria Rickart-Pontin sold the Westport shop in 2025 to “Kat and Robert.”9 The brokerage that handled that sale announced that the new owners had “also expanded with a second location in Beacon Hill at 2501 Troost.”10 A grand opening was set for October 1, 2025, with “Happy Hour with a live DJ and treats”; The Pitch’s Dish & Drink column visited that day.112 Because Vested had already fitted the room out as an Airstream café, “the setup is very similar to what it once was.”1 The Kansas City Plaza Rotary Club, using the shop as a pre-event gathering spot in January 2026, identified “Club Member Robert Armstrong” as the owner of “his business, Two Sugars Coffee at Beacon Hill.”12 Kat’s full name, the pair’s relationship and their backgrounds are undocumented.
