Bosslady’s Famous Shrimp is Nashaunda Law’s KC seafood restaurant — started in 2014 as a catering business to fund nursing school, grown into a Northland landmark with a DJ and line dancing. Shrimp feasts, Caribbean shrimp, seafood buckets. 12 years running.

Description

Bosslady’s Famous Shrimp started as a hustle and became a Kansas City institution. Nashaunda Law launched a catering business in 2014 to support herself through nursing school — and the shrimp was so good that the catering operation outlasted nursing as a career plan. Twelve years in, Bosslady’s runs out of a restaurant at 6245 N. Oak Trafficway in Kansas City’s Northland, serving Cajun-seasoned seafood feasts in a party atmosphere: DJ nights, line dancing, and buckets of shrimp that pair well with both. The menu centers on shrimp — boiled, fried, sauced, battered — with a Shrimp Feast bucket ($35) serving as the flagship: shrimp, potatoes, corn, and sausage in a seasoning-heavy boil. Caribbean Shrimp ($22) runs unpeeled with a spicy-sweet sauce. Shrimp alfredo ($15) and steak alfredo ($19) round out the sit-down menu. Jeremy Law (Nashaunda’s husband) serves as VP.
