Collector’s Cache is a trading-card and collectibles retailer at 13354 College Blvd, Lenexa, trading as Collector’s Cache LLC and established in 1988 — which makes it, at 38 years, the longest-tenured shop in the Registry’s tabletop-and-collectibles group. It started as “a small baseball card store with only 400 total square feet” and now runs sports cards, Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh singles and sealed, graded cards, toys, board games, coins and memorabilia, plus tournaments, a buylist, and a worldwide mail-order business it has run for more than 30 years.

Description

Collector’s Cache is the old-guard shop in a category the Registry has otherwise been filling with recent arrivals. Where Love Counts opened in July 2026 and Mission: Board Games in December 2016, Collector’s Cache has been trading since 1988, and its own account of itself is a compressed history of the American collectibles trade: it began as “a small baseball card store with only 400 total square feet of space” and grew into a large retailer “as the collectibles market changed.”1

The product range reflects that arc rather than a single niche. Sports cards remain, but so do Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh singles and sealed product, graded cards, accessories, toys, board games, coins, and memorabilia.1 The shop is also carried in the CMON publisher’s store locator, which places it in the board-game and miniatures trade as well as the card trade.2

Two things distinguish it operationally. It runs a buylist — it buys collections in, which is what a shop with 38 years of local relationships can do and a new arrival cannot. And it has run worldwide mail order for more than 30 years, shipping by FedEx, UPS and USPS typically within 48 hours, with online ordering and in-store pickup.1 A Lenexa storefront that has been mail-ordering internationally since the mid-1990s is a different kind of business from a neighborhood game room.

Within the Registry’s tabletop group it sits opposite TableTop Game & Hobby, whose owner has said on the record that deliberately not doing collectible cards is what defines his store. Collector’s Cache is the other pole of the same metro trade.

Ownership and history

Established 1988, first-party and unambiguous.1 The store’s own narrative gives the origin — 400 square feet, baseball cards — and the trajectory, without dates for any intermediate step: no founding location, no move to College Boulevard, no incorporation date for the LLC.1

The owner is not named on the first-party site. A card-shop directory describes the founder as “Behman,” a “seasoned veteran in the trading card industry with over 25 years of experience.”3 That is a single third-party source giving one name with no surname, and it is recorded here as a lead rather than as the ownership fact. Note also the internal tension: 25+ years of experience against a business founded 38 years ago — the two figures may describe different things, or the directory copy may simply be older or loose. It is not resolved here.

Legal entity registration (Kansas Secretary of State) was not searched this pass.
