Pho La La is a small, casual Vietnamese-and-pan-Asian restaurant at 44A NE Sycamore Street in downtown Lee’s Summit — ten phở bowls, bánh mì, vermicelli plates, three ramens, Hainanese chicken rice, bibimbap, khao moo dang and a “Vietnam shaking on the box” — that The Pitch’s readers made a Best Pho finalist in 2025. Third-party listings date it to 2018 under the Thai Spice family; since September 2025 it has been operated by Patchara “Pat” Hompan, who opened the sister restaurant ThaiThai Sushi in Platte Woods in March 2026.
Description
Lee’s Summit’s tourism office lists Pho La La as “Vietnamese noodle soups, Japanese ramen and more served in a small, contemporary restaurant,” and the restaurant’s own copy calls it “the spot for Vietnamese food in Lee’s Summit … casual and friendly, with a menu built on authentic recipes.”12 The room is a storefront on Sycamore a block off the downtown Lee’s Summit main drag.
The menu is broader than the name. Phở comes ten ways — chicken, vegetable, tofu, meatball, rib eye, brisket, pork, shrimp, combo and seafood ($12.95–16.95) — with the standard plate of bean sprouts, basil, lime, cilantro and jalapeño.3 Appetizers run from crab rangoon, egg rolls and fresh spring rolls (including a shiitake-mushroom roll) through gyoza, “shrimp blanket,” bang-bang shrimp, chicken satay, crispy tofu, steamed bao, and La La Fries topped with “homemade beef,” Japanese mayo, Sriracha and kimchi.3 Vermicelli bowls (bún) come with egg rolls, pickled carrot and daikon and sweet fish sauce; the “House Favorites” section holds a bánh mì, Asian-style tacos with kimchi, sukiyaki, curry and teriyaki-udon stir-fries and an orange chicken; ramen is offered in spicy-kimchi, creamy-miso and curry broths; and a rice section ranges across Vietnam (“Vietnam Shaking on The Box”), Hainan (khao man gai), Korea (bibimbap) and Thailand (khao moo dang, teriyaki chicken).3 Soups add udon, yakisoba, sukiyaki, wonton–char siu, egg drop, chicken rice and miso; there is a kids’ phở and Thai iced tea and iced coffee to drink.3 The site’s own tag cloud — “Vegan Food, Miso, Curry Ramen, Dumplings, Vermicelli, Noodle Restaurant, Teriyaki, Yakisoba …” — is an honest summary of a pan-Asian kitchen with phở at its center.2
Ownership and history
Third-party listings give a founding year of 2018 and describe Pho La La as “a sister store to Thai Spice” and part of “the Jindaporn Restaurant Group”; Thai Spice is at 1192 NE Douglas Street, a few blocks away in Lee’s Summit, and its own website does not mention Pho La La.45 On March 2, 2026, the veteran Star restaurant reporter Joyce Smith wrote that Patchara “Pat” Hompan, who had just opened ThaiThai Sushi Restaurant in Platte Woods, “also operates Lee’s Summit Pho La La, which launched in September” 2025; The Pitch’s opening roundup ten days later called Pho La La ThaiThai’s “sister restaurant,” which “boasts high customer ratings.”67 Read together, the sources suggest Hompan took over an existing restaurant in September 2025 rather than founding it — the same conflict logged on the thaithai-sushi page — and the parallel LLC names (Lucky PnP LLC on Pho La La’s site; Lucky KC LLC on ThaiThai’s) point to one operator.26 Hompan’s background and residency are undocumented.
In November 2025 The Pitch’s readers named Pho La La one of five Best Pho finalists, behind Vietnam Cafe and Pho Good and alongside Nguyen Pho & Grill and Pho Tower.8
